Project GRIT
Description
Dr. Victor Rios and Jaime Carias recruited a team of former students and colleagues to work with young people that had been pushed out of school in Los Angeles, CA. Project GRIT: Generating Resilience to Inspire Transformation was created to support young people in strengthening the mind, body, and soul. This book tells the story of an inspiring curriculum developed for young people who have been left behind. Project GRIT aims to inspire educators and service providers on how to develop programming that can positively impact the lives of the lives of the young people they serve.
About the Author
Dr. Rios is a Professor of Sociology at the University of California Santa Barbara. He conducts research and develops programs to support at-promise youth in their development. Jaime Carias is the Civic Engagement Coordinator for the University of Southern California Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism. He has dedicated the past decade towards developing and implementing educational and community-engaging programs aimed at promoting access to higher education and empowering under-served communities.
