Description

For some hopeful parents, traditional methods of conception and carrying a pregnancy are simply not an option. For these parents, assisted reproductive technology (ART) provides a mechanism to achieve pregnancy and birth, whether through assisted insemination, in vitro fertilization, or gestational carriers. The ABA Consumer Guide to Assisted Reproduction explains the available ART options; the process for choosing a medical provider and legal representative; understanding and entering into appropriate agreements; and the unique issues that may arise pre-and post-birth. Written by attorney Jeffrey Kasky who has operated a surrogacy service for several years, the book will help to demystify the technology and give consumers the confidence and knowledge they need to achieve their goal of parentage through ART.

About the Author

Jeffrey A. Kasky, Esq., founded a surrogacy service, Life Through Surrogacy, and has worked on dozens of surrogacies, representing both gestational carriers and commissioning families, He co-founded One World Adoption Services, Inc., and has completed well over 1,000 adoptions in his career. Jeff lectures extensively on adoption fraud and scams and often testifies as an expert witness in adoption matters. He resides in Deerfield Beach, Florida. Marla Neufeld, Esq., is an attorney in Greenspoon Marder's Family Law practice group and founder of the firm's Assisted Reproductive Technology practice group. Marla was personally part of the statistic of one of every six couples of childbearing age struggling with infertility. She experienced her own infertility journey for over four years and ultimately used a gestational surrogate to build her own family. Drawing from her own personal journey with infertility and the use of a gestational surrogate, Neufeld utilizes her transactional law background and combines it with her compassion and understanding of the surrogacy and adoption process. She focuses on helping others start a family using the available third party reproductive technologies and adoption laws in Florida. Legal services offered include surrogacy representation on behalf of surrogates and those intended parents interested in using a surrogate, egg and sperm donation agreements, and adoption (same sex adoptions, step parent adoptions and second parent adoptions). Marla is honored to represent married couples, both heterosexual and same sex couples and individuals in Florida seeking to utilize various reproductive technologies. She treats each client with her own experience in mind and is sensitive to the fact that reproductive technology and the adoption process can be intimidating and overwhelming with many pitfalls which she can help guide clients through.
